21/127 LOVSTAKKEN

2012 Stallion
Sire Beinnliath Jack Sparrow
Dam Gerrannan

Bred on Scorraig Lovstakken is closely related to some of our previous stallions, most notable Keodale. He descends from a mixture of old Herd 2 and Herd 14 bloodlines.

Lovstakken has amble bone and is a free mover, he has sired some excellent foals in Herd 21 and briefly ran at Knepp Castle East before joining the stud in Spring 2023. He ran with Darshill Scarlet Witch, Darshill Princess Charlotte and Frithesden Singing Grass in 2023 and we eagerly await his first crop of foals.

PREVIOUS STALLIONS

These stallions stood at Darshill Stud, we have also occasionally sent mares away to be covered.

21/107 KEODALE (2009)
SIRE BEINN GHOBLACH
DAM CRAIGSFORD BRONZE

Bred on Scorraig Keodale descends from a mixture of old Herd 2 and 14 bloodlines. His sire Beinn Ghoblack produced many successful progeny both in Scotland and on Exmoor before retiring to the Netherlands. Keodale's dam, Craigsford Bronze aka Ellie is from an under represented mare line descended from foundation mare O76/1 Old Altai. Although bred in Scotland Keodale travelled to Exmoor as part of a project organised by the Exmoor Pony Society to reintroduce some bloodlines which had been lost on the moor. He stayed on Exmoor for four years before becoming our resident stallion. Keodale has never been shown due to an injury sustained as a foal but has sired some excellent progeny here, passing on quality in abundance.

44/35 LITTONWATER HYDRA TIME LAD (2014)

SIRE COEDYWERN FETLAR

DAM SUMMER TIME LASS

Hydra was brought from Herd 44, one of the oldest herds on Exmoor, their bloodlines are found almost exclusively on Twitchen Moor where the herd lives. Hydra was chosen because of his free action which he has passed this on to his progeny.

49/124 COEDYWERN ROCKET (2013)
SIRE DUNKERY GODWIT
DAM WOTON BORAGE

Rocket was an accidental joint purchase with Beinnliath Stud when Rambling Rose was collected. His father Dunkery Godwit sired EPS Breed Show Supreme Champion Dunkery Whimbrel and HOYS, RI and Olympia Finalist Dunkery Wigeon. His dam Borage is descended from Herd 2 and her other progeny include EPS Breed Show Supreme Champion, EPS Pony of the Year and HOYS finalist Coedywern Juniper. Rocket was a good sire producing only fillies for us before returning to Beinnliath Stud and then back to Coedywern Stud where he currently stands.

H7/29 MURRAYTON NUGGET (1993)
SIRE FRITHESDEN BEACON
DAM BOWSCAR

Murrayton Nugget was found living in a back garden as a 21 year old stallion, he had never sired any progeny and his owner put him up for sale without knowing he was one of the last surviving ponies from the Murrayton Herd. His sire Frithesden Beacon was a prolific winner and the last foal of a mare line which is now extinct. We were very lucky to have Nugget in his old age, and he left us with two beautiful fillies.

H29/36 WALTERSGAY NIGHTINGALE
SIRE SISKIN
DAM WALTERSGAY MOSS ROSE

We were very fortunate to be gifted Bill in his retirement having had a hugely successful career both in hand and under saddle with Pam and Paul Cox, he picked up too many championships to mention and was BoB at Olympia in 2008 and 2009. He was by legendary stallion Siskin, Jackie Webb's prolific winner who really put Exmoor Ponies on the map, out of Breed Champion mare Walstergay Moss Rose.

458/2 DARSHILL SUNFIRE
SIRE BEINN GHOBLACH
DAM AGLIONBY

Orange Job as he was effectionately known was our first homebred licensed stallion. He was a very easy going stallion with plenty of size and substance which he passed on to his progeny. He was photographed by Joanna Webber for RBST who have used his image for publications for many years.
